Greg died in the 1980s in an automobile accident in Indiana. He was a public defender in Baltimore City.
Greg and I were friends throughout high school, and shared the common interests of studying military history and playing strategy board games involving military history. Perhaps our favorite game was called "Diplomacy". I've been thinking a lot of Greg lately, as I recently was told of a website for Diplomacy that allows the game to be played online. I've been playing with people from all around the world, and the game brought memories of Greg just flooding back.
As a public defender, I am absolutely sure Greg defied the stereotype of the lazy, unprepared, uninterested advocate. I am sure he was as formidable a foe in the courtroom as he was across a game board.
Rest in peace, my friend.
